Every Paper/Abstract awarded final acceptance for presentation is expected to have one author attend the conference and present the paper at the conference to be considered in the indexed proceeding. Publication in the conference proceedings without registering for the conference and presenting the full paper is not intended.

MARSHA ANDERSON BOMAR, Ph.D., F. ASCE, F.ITE, AICP, ENV SP
Marsha Anderson Bomar is a civil engineering trailblazer who has held numerous leadership roles. She is the Transportation Strategic Advisor for GHD, a global consultancy. Previously, she served as the Atlanta Department of Transportation commissioner and assistant general manager for capital program delivery of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to found and lead Street Smarts Inc., a planning, engineering, and design firm, and Data Smarts, a data collection and management firm, which she sold to Stantec in 2010.

Advisor to H.E. Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, Minister of Investment
Board Member, Aramco Digital
Former Minister of Economy & Digital, Austria
Margarete Schramboeck is a distinguished figure in both government and business sectors, having served as Austria’s Minister of Economy and Digital Affairs, where she played a key role in shaping national economic policies and promoting digital transformation across the country.
Currently, she is a Board Member and Advisor at Aramco Digital, where she brings her extensive experience in digitalization and economic strategy to one of the leading digital innovation arms in the energy sector, and as an Advisor to H.E., the Minister of Investment.

Margarete has over 15 years of experience as CEO of IT and telco companies, including her role at A1, Austria's biggest telecom operator. This background has profoundly shaped her approach to digital infrastructure, significantly influencing her tenure as Minister. During this period, she was instrumental in driving initiatives that bolstered Austria’s position as a competitive digital economy in Europe. Her efforts focused on enhancing digital infrastructure, supporting startups, and fostering innovation. At Aramco Digital, she continues to leverage her expertise to guide digital strategies that enhance operational efficiencies and drive sustainable growth in the energy industry.
Margarete’s leadership is marked by a strong commitment to innovation and efficiency, traits that have defined her career in both public service and corporate governance. She is recognized for her strategic vision and her ability to implement complex digital solutions in large-scale organizations.


Dr. Naveed Sherwani
CEO, National Semiconductor Hub
Dr. Naveed Sherwani is a globally recognized semiconductor leader, entrepreneur, and innovator. He currently serves as Chairman, President, and CEO of RapidSilicon, and is also the CEO of the National Semiconductor Hub of Saudi Arabia—an initiative driving the Kingdom’s vision for a thriving chip design ecosystem. Dr. Sherwani has previously led SiFive, PeerNova, and Open-Silicon—pioneering companies in RISC-V, blockchain, and ASIC design. With nearly a decade at Intel, he co-architected the company’s microprocessor design methodology and earned the prestigious Intel Achievement Award. He has founded multiple successful startups and chaired companies such as StarFive and LeapFive. A prolific author with several books and over 100 publications, Dr. Sherwani is widely regarded for his contributions to VLSI physical design automation and ASICs.
BRENDAN MACFARLANE
Co-Founder, Jakob+MacFarlane
BRENDAN MACFARLANE, born in New Zealand, graduated from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), received his master degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. In 1998, he and Dominique Jakob co-founded Jakob+MacFarlane, a multidisciplinary, multicultural practice whose innovative, socially committed architecture is tailored to meet the environmental and other challenges of the 21st century. Brendan has taught at the Bartlett School of Architecture and the Architectural Association, l’École Spéciale d'Architecture (Paris), the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and the SCI-Arc.

We are proud to announce the Saudi Arabia premiere of the documentary film Cities of the Future during ICSDI 2026 at Prince Sultan University. Produced by MacGillivray Freeman Films in partnership with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and narrated by acclaimed actor John Krasinski, the film takes viewers on an inspiring journey through the innovations shaping tomorrow’s cities. From renewable energy beamed from space, to smart infrastructure, electric flying vehicles, and climate-adaptive urban design, this captivating film explores how engineers are solving the challenges of a changing world—today.
The screening of Cities of the Future is a special feature of ICSDI 2026, offering a powerful and visionary look at the role of engineering, technology, and sustainability in building smarter, more resilient communities. Attendees will travel virtually to some of the world’s most advanced cities—including Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and Singapore—where real-world solutions are already being implemented.
